Happy xmas all. Wish you have eternal happiness.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an action adventure game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts (EA). Respawn Entertainment is familiar to us with Titanfall 1-2 (2014/2016), Apex Legends (2019). A young developer (2010) but has produced games that are considered to have a pretty good reputation among gamers.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes the time line 5 years after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. We will control a protagonist named Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan), a Jedi Padawan who is being hunted by the Galactic Empire, who is named Inquisitor. Cal will also be accompanied by a droid with type BD-1, who will also become Cal’s best friend in this adventure.
Before playing this game, I had a marathon watch all the Star Wars series again, watching it not following the release year but following the timeline of the film, with the ultimate goal of being able to enjoy the last film, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019) which airs in theaters. Last December, not only that, after that I also followed the TV series Star Wars: The Mandalorian (2019) which aired on Disney +, making me really immersed in the world of Star Wars.
Playing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order honestly is an experience that is very different from just watching the film, where in the film we are shown a screen of events in the Star Wars film from the point of view of the film director, we are forced to see in a 2D world viewpoint. Star Wars. It’s different from video games, where the world is 3D, and we can explore according to the capabilities of the game, and of course that creates a wider perspective. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is my first game from the Star Wars franchise.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is honestly a pretty interesting game that I didn’t expect to be this good, a game that combines the best aspects of the various games that have been released on the market. There are elements of exploration that are quite strong such as Uncharted or Tomb Raider, fighting elements that are similar to Dark Souls or Sekiro, elements of level design that are similar to Bloodborne, elements of customizing weapons, equipment, level up systems and skill trees that we usually encounter in RPG games. . All of these elements are combined to create this game. Because you have taken all the mechanisms above, it now remains how the story and overall gameplay of this game are.
Because this game tells about exploration of star travel, so we will be given the ability to move planets, we will go on an adventure to explore several planets that have different natural ecosystems, I am very interested in exploring every place in this game, by exploring secret places scattered throughout our planet will be rewarded with various kinds of skin costumes, energy to extend lives and other power ups, which by collecting these will make our adventures easier in the future.
Planetary ecosystems that vary with different tonal colors, there are planets that are predominantly green, there are planets that are dominant in red, which are made as unique as possible so that we feel that if the scenery we see comes not from the earth, in these planets we will meet various types of animals, plants, robot droids and other strange creatures. There are many roads that we cannot access at the beginning of the game, which require certain skills to be accessed, similar to Castlevania type games. This game is indeed strong in terms of exploration.
Continue to the story-line, for the story of this game in my opinion it is the least aspect, not bad, it’s just normal in my opinion, the motivation of the main character to want to go on an adventure across the galaxies to revive the Jedi Order in my opinion is quite interesting, because the concept is the same as that of Luke Skywalker’s character in the Star Wars: The Last Jedi film who wants to revive the Jedi order by gathering children who have the potential to become Jedi in the future, but unfortunately Luke failed because he thought one of his students was Kylo Ren. will move to the Dark Side, and in short, Kylo Ren ends up slaughtering all the children.
In this game, there is a vision or a spark of the future that can be seen if Cal Kestis manages to gather the children then it can happen, but at the end Cal Kestis decides to leave everything to the Force. One of the minuses of this game, in my opinion, is that the relationship between the characters doesn’t look too strong, as if we don’t care about these characters, and there is one female character who joins almost at the end of the game, even though the character seems quite explorable because of the character. which is unique and feels useless if you join at the end of the game. There are also several characters who were made to die, a tragedy that the developer wanted to build but was less successful.
The graphics used in this game are quite strange in my opinion, usually Respawn Entertainment as a developer uses an engine called “Source”, this engine is applied to Titanfall 2 and Apex Legend, while in the game Jedi: Fallen Order uses the Unreal Engine 4 engine, why do I say strange, yes because the question arises, why not use EA’s main engine, the Frostbite Engine? Even though in terms of graphics there is no doubt, is it possible that Frostbite is not suitable for use in a game model like this, but never mind. The graphics of this game I say are pretty good, what’s interesting is that sometimes the arena is the same but has a different appearance, for example a snowy arena, when we first came to the arena there was a snowstorm that covered almost all the scenery, but a few moments later after the mission was complete , the snowstorm stopped and we were given an incredible view, white snow, blue ice cubes, clear sky without clouds spoiling my eyes, the graphics are crazy. some arenas will change according to the time we come to them.
The soundtrack sounds quite magnificent, in the style of a Star Wars movie, a mixture of orchestral music, which makes us feel as if we are truly adventuring in the middle of nowhere planets. The map is also made as good as possible with various kinds of information so that we don’t get lost easily, there are also which doors can be accessed or which cannot be accessed because we don’t have the skills to access the arena.
The fighting system of the game is quite common that we often see in games lately, maybe the difference here is that we are a Jedi who has all the abilities of a Jedi, so all the abilities we’ve seen in Star Wars films are average. The average is in this game, such as slowing down enemy movements, pushing enemies, bouncing laser shots, throwing lightsaber then back again etc.
We don’t only use these skills to fight, but we will also use them to be able to access certain arenas, such as slowing down windmills, pulling ropes, forcibly pushing doors and so on. The enemies in this game, of course, are mostly Stormtroopers and beasts that inhabit a planet.
Stormtroopers here are quite funny, because they sometimes comment too much, either when scared, sometimes too proud to go forward alone, or run away when startled. Stormtrooper will later have levels such as captain level and above using a black assault rifle and having a unique weapon that is quite annoying. Not only that, in various places we will be hunted by a Bounty Hunter and his droid. Our main weapon is the lightsaber and we can modify the color, and mid-game we will be given a double lightsaber, we can also modify the handle handle of the lightsaber. The sound of the lightsaber slashes and hits hitting the enemy or the wall will leave a burnt mark looks pretty cool, that’s not all the sparks that appear from the lightsaber, and sometimes there’s a cinematic finishing move that will split the enemy into two, it’s very fun. When we hold the lightsaber the ambient color around us also changes which I think is a pretty cool little detail.
Over time, not only will the main character’s abilities increase, but the skills of our adventure companion BD-1 droid will also increase, BD-1 will get various kinds of skills, such as hacking enemy droids, opening locked doors and chests. Indeed, in modern games, usually the main character has a side kick companion who usually interacts between the two characters so that things are not lonely and feel alive. BD-1 will also help us provide tips if we have difficulty solving a puzzle in an arena. We can also change the skin of BD-1 by collecting various scattered chests.
I feel that our action adventure is not very monotone, not ordered from place A to place B, but on the way there are unique things that I really never imagined, such as having to jump from a height to catch a giant bat boss, riding a robot. AT-AT Walker, suddenly caught by a bounty hunter and had to escape their prison, had to dive into a river, chase enemy planes and several other unique things. When we have to return to certain arenas, usually in that arena we will be given a mini boss or some kind of bounty hunter that is challenging enough to beat.
Overall this is a pretty good game, very, very feasible to buy and play on day one, this game makes me feel like a Jedi, I am quite fun playing this game, the thing that makes me surprised is that this game is quite long, I finished this game almost 60 hours or about 1 week of intense play. This game feels very exploratory, looking for various kinds of fragments from a lost civilization that feels very adventurous. Finally, there is a Star Wars game that is quite good in all aspects of this decade. The developer provides a level level so that we can choose according to our abilities, if I choose a normal level, and I think it’s quite balanced more towards the easy, because in this game I only die a few times throughout the game.
I personally highly recommend playing this game, there is no DLC, no micro-transactions and other trifles, purely we play this game because of the gameplay and story.
