From March to June 2021, there were 3.2 million PC devices infected with a new computer virus of the Trojan type. Internet security company Nordlocker reports that from this research, most users still don’t know that their computer is infected with this virus and they reveal that one of the biggest spreading tools is from pirated games.
Furthermore, several antivirus agencies also said that the Trojan virus, named Mirai, was actually from 2018. However, several pirated sites that became tools for spreading this virus spread new virus derivatives that were not detected by other antiviruses. Even removing the encryption of these viruses is very difficult and they target a lot of important files.
Not only PC games, some pirated mobile applications can also be a Mirai distribution tool. Although it doesn’t cause file damage on smartphone devices, Mirai can directly switch to a computer if the device is connected via USB.
The Mirai virus that is spread through this pirated game is not to be underestimated. They mainly infect the operating system so that it is difficult to trace and to remove it, sometimes it takes a hard reset alias to reinstall the operating system to clean this virus from the computer.
Seeing the Mirai threat that does not stop and is now rising again in 2021, several digital security agencies appeal to the public not to download files from the internet carelessly. You certainly don’t want your important data to be lost just because you carelessly download pirated games on the internet.
What do you think, huh? Still want to pirate games and jeopardize your digital data? Therefore, support the game industry by buying original games from developers, yes!
